"It is the humble man who risks
his dignity to speak up for what he loves. It is the courageous
man who dares contradiction and the acrimony of argument to defend
his beliefs. If one loves anything, truth, beauty, woman, life,
one will speak out. Genuine love cannot endure silence. Genuine
love breaks out into speech. And when it is great love, it breaks
out into song."

Mr. Blue

Our new logo was inspired by a whimsical
sculpture crafted from recycled bicycle parts by master metal artist
Rodrigo Duran, which has, for many years, resided in my little castle
in Pacific Grove. I named the Quixote-esque figure “Mr. Blue,” after
one of my favorite literary heroes. The idealistic and ever hopeful
Mr. Blue (from the Myles Connolly novel of the same name) was passionate
about love, life and music.
One evening at home, while sharing wine with my dear friends, wonderful
musicians Dizzy Burnett and Grover Coe, Dizzy came up with a revelation.
Enthusiastically, she recommended that Mr. Blue become the model
for the new logo for Kelly Productions. Seemed like a swell idea
to me!
Thanks to Rodrigo Duran for his artistic creation, to Myles Connolly
for his heartwarming vision, and to Dizzy for her ingenious suggestion.
