Hunter Finnell is one of our area's
top choices as an auctioneer, MC or public speaker.
Hunter's main career has been in sportscasting, newscasting and
producing, writing, and hosting television. He began in 1984, as
a TV sportscaster working as the sports director/anchor for local
newscasts in Southern California, South Florida, and North Carolina.
He moved to Monterey, CA in 1989 and spent the next 16 years as
an award-winning sportscaster. (KMST/KION-TV (CBS) and KCBA (FOX)
35-TV.) In 2006, Hunter moved from sports anchor to news anchor
(morning and evening news for KION-TV.) In 2009, Hunter started
his own business, Hunter Finnell Media, which produces "Monterey
Bay and Beyond with Hunter Finnell" (a business magazine show now
in its 6th season) for cable television, as well as several weekly
segments for ESPN Sports Radio.
Because he has been a sportscaster his entire career, Hunter has
played in and MC'd for hundreds of charitable golf tournaments.
He has also been on the board of numerous charities and various
cities Chambers of Commerce and has MC'd and auctioneered for them.
Over the past 30 years, Hunter has been an MC/auctioneer or public
speaker for hundreds and hundreds of events, including golf tournaments,
banquets, live auctions, and corporate functions. Hunter has appeared
in front of audiences of all ages, from school children to business
people, from charitable organizations to senior citizens. As an
auctioneer, Hunter's specialty is engaging the audience, talking
with them, and not auctioning as if the event were a cattle drive.
Many of the public events Hunter has done require that he don a
tux, but he has also been know to dress to match the theme of the
event, from Bavarian lederhosen for Oktoberfest, to golfing attire,
to cowboy gear.
Hunter is also a motivational speaker. As a cancer survivor from
the age of 18, he speaks on the subject of overcoming obstacles.
His story is rather intriguing, as he was one of the first bone
cancer patients in the U.S.A. (1977) to have his limb saved from
amputation with a radical re-section of his leg using stainless
steel and titanium.
As a seasoned host and MC, Hunter thinks on his feet and improvises
to ensure your audience is engaged and happy. Find out why folks
around the peninsula are saying, "Hunter, I have to call you for
an event ...we need you because you are the best MC we know."
