Elegant, luminous soprano vocalist
and gifted comedian, Layne Littlepage's dynamic, delightful and
sometimes hysterically funny performances have received outstanding
theatrical reviews and have enchanted audiences from coast to coast
and around the world. Her one-woman shows such as "An Evening with
Beatrice Lillie," "A Tribute to Julie Andrews," and "Noel, Cole,
and Friends," (a tribute to the songs of Noel Coward and Cole Porter)
have long won her international acclaim.
Now Layne applies her talents to the Christmas season, the results
being a delightful and engaging Christmas show for all ages, full
of nostalgia, wit and warmth. Accompanying her is the amiable and
accomplished Barney Hulse on piano.
"Classic American Christmas" recalls the best of the holiday favorites
from the 30s, 40s and 50s in a most touching way. Sentimental favorites
such as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "I'll Be Home
for Christmas" are interspersed with whimsical tunes such as "Snow"
(from Irving Berlin's White Christmas) and the delightful
"Suzy Snowflake" (originally popularized in 1951 by Rosemary Clooney).
But this is more than just a magnificent singing performance - along
with her enchanting renditions of some of the best-loved Christmas
songs from America's golden era of stage and screen, Layne shares
heartwarming tales of the stories behind the songs, and personal
anecdotes of the composers and stars who made these songs a part
of classic American history.
